Supervisors Training Centre Lucknow

STC - NR/ CB/ LKO


Supervisors Training Centre/Lucknow, formerly known as System Technical School, Northern Railway, was established adjacent to locomotive Workshop at Charbagh, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) on 14-01-1956, to fulfill the need of trained Supervisors  (JE /SE) of Mechanical and Electrical department of Northern railway. At that time these Trainees were called as Apprentice Mechanics and apprentice Train Examiners.

With the fast change in Technology, the STC has also upgrade it self, adopted modern teaching aid Methodologies of imparting training to keep pace with the emerging technologies and given due consideration to the aspiration of Rail users by Introducing need based courses.

As on date this Training Centre is reckoning the Training Centre among all STCs of Indian Railway. This Training Centre is providing value added training to the Railway personnel, Special Courses like Disaster management, Computer awareness, Store Management have conducted which found very useful amongst all department. STC,CB is the only Training Centre of Indian Railway authorized by the Railway Board to conduct the Training of WILD, Weighbridge & Mechatronics; and it is the nodal Centre for the training to newly inducted Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant of Indian Railways.

In the year 2010, STC,CB was shifted to its Newly constructed building which has an excellent infrastructural facilities and state of Art Labs and equipment for imparting qualitative training. All the classroom are equipped with latest training aids like multimedia projectors, magnetic white board. Facilities like Library, Hostel, Mess, Sports and recreation club and grounds for outdoor games are provided, Yoga and Meditation classes facilities are also available in the hostel to keep the trainees physically and mentally sound.

The faculty of the STC (Gazetted and Non Gazetted) have a rich field experience and drawn from Workshops and open lines.

Visiting Faculty are also being called as per requirement from the serving and retired Railway Officers and supervisors. In addition to these, Industry experts from private organization are also being called when ever it is felt necessary.

Teaching Methodology includes group discussion, lectures, demonstration on Computerized working Models, Cut section Models, field visit to workshops, sheds, depots, Yards and Stations are also being arranged for Trainees.

At STC, CB, our staff members are committed not only to enhance professional knowledge and skills of the trainees but also for their overall personality development, especially leadership qualities.

Objective of Training Centre: To fulfill the need of training requirement of Mechanical and Electrical Supervisors and to develop them as Frontline manager so that they prove themselves more effective and efficient for organizational needs at their working place:

Aim: To develop such Supervisors who could be able to provide effective leadership to their staff in order to obtain productivity, quality, cost effectiveness, punctuality and high safety in Railway operation. This will be achieved by:

·To upgrade the knowledge, skill and positive attitude as per the need of Railway organization.

·To upgrade and refresh the Supervisors with latest development in C&W and Loco maintenance.

·To improve professional competency, curtsy and loyalty.

·To provide safety and cost conscious.

·To develop quality assurance, skills in day to day working.

Facilities:

1. 05 Classrooms (In new building) are equipped with LCD Projectors.

2. Auditorium cum Seminar hall.

3. Diesal Lab.

4. C&W Lab.

5. Computer Lab.

6. Electrical lab.

7. Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Lab.

8. Material Testing Lab.

9. Library.

10.Hostel and Messing Facilities.

The training centre providing theoretical training to the Induction Trainees and Refreshers as approved from the Railway Board from time to time and also co-ordinate with the field units for their practical training.

Basic Training Centre: Although, it is basically attached with the Loco workshop, Charbagh, but it is situated adjacent to old STC building. The administrative control over the teaching staff and classroom activities is being monitored by the Principal, STC.

It imparts training to CG Apprentices and ACT Apprentices in the Trades of Fitting, Machinist and welding of Mechanical branch and Wireman and rewinding in Electrical branch.

     Loco Elect. & control system Trainer : To study and capable to solve the trouble
     shooting arises in Electrical& Control system of ALCO and MicroprocessorLocomotive.

     Fuel oil system Trainer : To study and capable to solve the trouble shootingarises in
     the fuel oil system of 
ALCO and GM Locomotive.


2. Carriage & Wagon Lab.



Computerized Air-Brake simulator: Utilized for training on Air Brake system , functioning of Distributor Valve and its parts through bold colour mimic.

              Air –Brake System Fault Trainer: This system make trainees to detect the fault in air- brake system , cause of 
              trouble shooting i.eBrake binding, less braking power etc and their logical remedies.

Bilingual multimedia software.

4.  Electrical Lab

           • General Electrical maintenance software

           • Assorted Practical Motor testing trainer with Multimedia software

            • Learning Station:Touch screen self study system of various Topics and study  materials with E-learning software.

Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Lab.

  

 Air – Conditioning Fault Simulator: To understand trouble shooting in air –conditioning system in AC coaches in logical way.

Railway Coach Air-Conditioning Trainer: Sealed compact unit for familiarization of Air – Condition system of Coaches through Roof mounted packaged unit(RMPU). 

Experimental Refrigeration cycle trainer,
Gas charging unit, Cut section models for Refrigeration components etc
     

          6. Material Testing Lab.

                       


  • Digital Tensile Testing Machine for determination of tensile strength and elongation of Rubber components.
  • Constant Load Digital Shore ‘A’ Durometer.
  • Inverted Metallurgical Microscope.
  • Wet Polishing & Metal Cutting Machine
  • Rockwell cum Brinell Hardness Tester:For determination of hardness of metallic components
  • Ultrasonic Flaw Detector & Magna-flux testing machine


Library: The library has a vast collection of Books of various fields such as Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Management, Computer technology, Railway Engineering and Management and various manuals related to Diesel Lab, C&W, Railway Establishment matters, Various Act etc.

               Besides the above a number of magazines and News paper (English & Hindi) are also     available provided 
        for enhancement of trainees knowledge and day to day awareness.
